A product-minded engineer who cares about the experience users have with the software you build. You combine modern front-end engineering with practical full-stack skills to turn user needs and designs into accessible, responsive, reliable digital products for federal clients. You may be building your engineering foundation or already be ready to independently own meaningful features and workstreams. This capability posting is intentionally designed for a range of experience. As your scope grows, you may move from contributing to components and features to leading larger product areas, defining front-end and full-stack patterns, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture and engineering standards across teams.

  • Develop and integrate front-end experiences with APIs, services, data sources, and serverless or lightweight back-end capabilities.
  • Create and maintain design-system components, shared UI patterns, and engineering standards that improve consistency and delivery speed.
  • Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, debugging, refactoring, and release activities.
  • Build accessibility, Section 508 considerations, responsive behavior, security, and web performance into the engineering lifecycle.
  • Use AFS-approved AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to accelerate development, testing, documentation, and problem solving while validating outputs and maintaining engineering quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Application Engineers, Quality Engineers, designers, platform teams, security teams, and client stakeholders.
