The posting, as SpyCloud wrote it

SpyCloud is on a mission to make the internet a safer place by disrupting the criminal underground. SpyCloud’s solutions thwart cyberattacks and protect more than 4 billion accounts worldwide. Cybersecurity is an exciting, evolving space, and being at the forefront of the fight to disrupt cybercrime makes SpyCloud a special place to work. If you’re driven to align your career with a fantastic mission, look no further!

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering to lead our core platform team. Our product engineering teams are stream-aligned, each owning a slice of SpyCloud’s products end to end, and they are your customers. Your team will build and run the internal platform they ship on, so they can focus on disrupting cybercrime instead of wrestling with infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling.

This is a product role as much as an engineering one. You’ll treat the platform as a product, earn adoption rather than mandate it, and measure success by how much cognitive load you remove from the teams you serve. We value collaboration, transparency, and a culture of continuous improvement, and most importantly, we believe in keeping work fun!

Our Tech Stack

  • Programming languages: Go, TypeScript, Python
  • Relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Databricks
  • NoSQL databases: ElasticSearch, DynamoDB
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Terraform
  • Operating systems: Linux

What You'll Do

  • Lead, hire, and grow a team of platform engineers, coaching them toward product thinking and genuine empathy for the developers they serve.
  • Own the platform vision and roadmap as a product, prioritizing through direct discovery with stream-aligned teams and being explicit about what the platform won’t do.
  • Publish and maintain a team charter defining what the platform offers as a service, its SLOs, its support model, and how teams engage with you.
  • Measure success by pairing DORA metrics with developer satisfaction, golden path adoption, and self-service ratios, and use the results to drive priorities.
  • Run the platform as a dependable product with SLOs, versioning, and on-call, and lead platform-wide migrations so the platform team carries the burden instead of every product team.
  • Evaluate, roll out, and measure AI-assisted development tools across engineering.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on work in platform engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading engineering teams (4+ individuals), ideally platform, engineering, or developer tooling teams.
  • A track record of running an internal platform as a product: you can explain who your internal customers were, what you chose not to build, and how adoption and satisfaction changed.
  • Experience operating highly available systems in AWS, with working knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code (Terraform), CI/CD, and observability.
  • Strong technical judgment and a hands-on approach, you make sound architectural and
