Mission Overview & Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to own the design evolution of the Wirecutter Store. You will be the lead designer for our shopping experience, balancing high-conversion UX design with rigorous visual standards. You will oversee the visual and structural integrity of our store, designing intuitive interfaces for our homepage, product detail pages (PDPs), and checkout flows.
You are a strategic partner who will help shape the future of our retail experience. We are looking for someone to bring their expertise in e-commerce best practices, user psychology, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) to help us identify opportunities we haven't seen yet.
This is a remote friendly position.
Translate complex business requirements into elegant, high-fidelity designs. You will wireframe, prototype, and refine the interface to create a cohesive store experience across desktop and mobile.
Analyze the shopping funnel to identify friction points. You'll design solutions that improve navigation, product discovery, and the overall checkout process.
Be the subject matter expert on e-commerce design trends. Audit the site experience to identify growth opportunities and propose improvements to site architecture.
Partner with the business team to drive our A/B testing roadmap. You will design and implement UI experiments (e.g., layout variations, navigation updates, promotional treatments) and use data to iterate on those designs.
Use your knowledge of the Shopify platform to build, configure, and manage pages. You understand the capabilities and constraints of the platform, allowing you to design features that are both beautiful and technically feasible.
Be the design advocate in meetings with our technical partners to ensure our visual standards are maintained during technical implementation.
